  4. Top 10 Documentaries of 2008

April 13, 2009 by Eric Kimberly

I have a few things to say before I start the list.  First, I am unsure of all of these movies were released theatrically in 2008, but if I saw them on someone else’s list I included them on mine.  Also, I never got around to watching Dear Zachary.  From what I hear, it is a truly special movie and I am waiting for the perfect time to watch it.  Lastly, there were some documentaries that I did not have access to such as I.O.U.S.A, Trouble The Water, Second Skin and others.  I highly recommend all of the movies on the list, but the top three are especially near and dear to my heart.  In descending order:

  5. Top 11 Movies of 2008

February 24, 2009 by Eric Kimberly

The reason I have 11 movies instead of 10 is because I watched The Edge of Heaven after I wrote my Honorable Mentions post, but I didn’t want to bump a movie off my top ten list to make room for it so I decided to do a top 11.  So anyways, these are my favorite movies of 2008 and I advise everyone one of you to watch at least a couple of these movies.  In Descending Order.

  6. Honorable Mentions of 2008

February 16, 2009 by Eric Kimberly

These are the movies I really liked, but didn’t quite make my top ten.  I still throughly recommend them all.  I still cannot believe The Visitor did not make my Top 10 list.  In no particular order.

Frost/Nixon is good movie with great performances.

    10290A_UNI_FNX_DOM1sh_Spread_R4

A comedy by the Coen Brothers.  What is not to love.

    untitled

The acting in Doubt is better than the movie itself.  Still, a very good, thought provoking time.

    doubt

A very good movie.  More deserving of its’ best pic nom than Frost/Nixon of Ben Button.
    imagemovie______

A super fun movie.  Overshadowed by the Dark Knight, but arguably the 2nd best Super hero movie ever.

    iron-man-poster2-big

Son of Rambow is a charming comedy.  Seek it out.

    son-of-rambow-a-home-movie-poster-0

Charlie Kaufman’s directorial debut is considered a masterpiece by some. I’m still unsure of it, ultimately well worth watching.

    synecdoche_new_york

The 11th best movie of 2008.  This is a must watch in my opinion.

    visitor

I just watched this so I may be rating it a little highly, but I just loved loved loved it.

    wacknessposter-2

My weird pick of year.  If you like Japanese Cinema give this a chance.

There are three movies that I haven’t had a chance to watch yet if I’m remembering everything. I have heard good things about Away From Her, Into the Wild and Gone Baby Gone, so I’m sure anyone of those movies could have been on my top ten list. Drop me a comment if there is any movies I missed.

  8. Faux Top Ten List
